Zeno napping the entire day away

I am *trying* to get myself back on track, but since the snow storms I have really been just all over the place!

It may be needless to say, but lately I’ve felt like Zeno, wanting to rest, but feeling restless at the same time!

Second French Chicken in a Pot turned our much better than the first one!

Anyway, here’s a basic summary of the other week:

Saturday I made my own version of Boston Creme cake, while cute, they weren’t as good as the box mix I had from Stone Wall Kitchen I made before.

Yellow cake, chocolate icing and vanilla pudding

On sunday I made french toast with Nutella and bananas for Eric, and then had a fantastic dinner out at Victory Brewery!

French toast, nutella and bananas

This past week has been a very busy one, we have had some impromptu plans and family and friends in town (surprise bridesmaids’ dress shopping!) and Eric has been battling a cold.

This past Friday I had announced that I will be changing jobs, so that’s also been on my plate.  It’s going to change things a bit, since the hours I work will extend further into the evening by a bit, but hopefully we’ll find a way to make it all work!  I’m sad, but excited to for the change… and now I’ll be able to make more big meals with the intent of having some good leftovers for lunch, since my new job will be only minutes away!

Coming up this week is a stir fry dinner, with a Pineapple and ginger sauce I picked up from StoneWall Kitchen ^_^ yum!

Icicles out my window this morning

This past weekend a girlfriend of mine celebrated her birthday at the Azie World Bistro in downtown Media. As always it’s great to get people together, even just for a few hours.  A couple of the girls and I agreed to do a dinner tonight, I was going to make the French Chicken in a Pot again, but the weatherman wouldn’t have it. Again!

Just like with the holiday party plans in December, there was a storm looming at the edge of our forecast, and we were hoping it wouldn’t white-out our plans.  Well, after talking a little yesterday and earlier today, the threat of being snowed in with dangerous roads all around, our little dinner party has been cancelled, and we’ll try again another day.  *lesigh*

On a fun note… I think it’s time the kittens get their paws in the snow for the first time! Hehee…

Snow day from work tomorrow?  Let’s hope so!

Chicken in a Pot… so far.

January 25, 2010

So despite my feeling crappy I have gone through with this recipe, which it’s already paying off. The smells just make me feel better knowing that comfort food is about an hour and a half away.

the first flip of the bird

It’s very easy to prep, and after you flip the bird the first time, it’s so satisfying to smell the browning goodness at the bottom of the pot! I took a picture, which I’ll share later probably after we eat ^_^

Later!

Update: see the picture! Looks lovely!
